Dinotopia

The love I have with the history of the Earth. What really happened with the creatures that we call dinosaurs? Could man and these creatures ever co-existed? Did they exist with the man and the woman in the Garden of Eden? With the new animals that has been discovered recently, could dinosaurs exist some where on Earth today? In James Gurney's world, dinosaurs and man can live together and be apart of life itself.

The only thing us human beings really know of these dinosaurs is what the fossils have shared with paleontologists. How much do they really tell us? Could dinosaurs and man coexist? Maybe not the carnivores. I cannot see myself drinking tea with a T-Rex without being the meal that the T-Rex is washing down. Just the same we do live on earth with so many other carnivore type animals throughout our planet.

We have also turned some wild animals into pets by interbreeding. The pet dog that you adore, comes from interbreeding of a wolf. Some fish are carnivores. We might not have a shark in our fish tank at home, but what fish we can put into a fish tank can kill other fish. Cats are carnivores. The can eat the mice or rats that they catch throughout the house. One might say that dinosaurs are too big to keep as a pet.

If one says that, then they do not know that much about dinosaurs. Not all dinosaurs are large creatures. By fossils, paleontologists have found that dinosaurs can be smaller then a large dog. Even if I can tame a T-Rex, I would not want to have to clean up after him. This may prove that we could not have dinosaurs as pets, but there is no proof that man could, or have ever lived with the dinosaurs no matter what size or diet.

We have today a great many animals that cannot fit into a average home, but men and creatures lives together at the same time. Not all animals that live in the wild are able to live in homes. This proves that every living being has its own habitat. We might not cross paths as we do people on the street, but all living creatures including man lives together. We take our children to zoos and other places to learn about them. Who knows the animals that are in zoos could be learning about us in our habitat.

The stories that I am writing about Dinotopia is my believe of how man and dinosaurs can live together. I give all the credit to James Gurney and thanks for creating a beautiful picture of what could happen. Even though his two stories, “Dinotopia: A Land Apart from Time” and “Dinotopia: The World Beneath” is pure fiction, does not mean that a possibility that it can be true to some point. History has shown many things that looks wild and exotic. They are true never the less. If the great pyramids did not exist today, would you ever believe they were created?
